Back Forty

2004

"The deep ruby/purple-tinged, supple 2004 Back Forty possesses a refined, elegant style with soft tannin, and a lot more sweetness and texture than one normally finds in hillside Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignons. It should drink well for 7 to 8 years.."

The Wine

Afffectionately called Back Forty, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this wine are grown on low-yielding vines on a 40 acre block on the back side of RockRise Mountain in Alexander Valley. Expressive dark berry, creme de cassis and vanilla aromas marry perfectly with opulent fruit and sweet, caramelized oak flavors, creating a rich and dense mid-palate followed by a finish of superb length.
